1938년 4월 22일에 미국 아칸사스주 딜라이트에서 태어난
글렌 캠블(Glen Campbell)은 5살 때 부친이 사다준 기타를 배우면서 음악에 관심을 갖기 시작했으며 가수가 되겠다는 결심을 했다고 하는데 한때 가수가 되기 위해 가출을 해 무수한 고생 속에서 집념을 불사르기도 했던 인물이다 또한 글렌 캠블은 고교 시절부터 웨스턴 랭글러즈 라는 그룹을 조직해 활동했으나 1960년 초에는 그들과 함께 로스엔젤레스로 진출해 유명 컨츄리 스타들의 레코딩을 돕는 세션 맨으로 활약했다 이렇게 세션 맨으로 활약하면서 유명 컨츄리 스타들과 친분을 두텁게 하였던 글렌 캠블은 한때 비치 보이스의 멤버로 활동도 하였으나 자신과는 음악성의 차이가 있다는 생각으로 탈퇴하고 솔로로 활약하기 시작했다 그리고 1960년대 중반에 데뷰 싱글 Turn Around Look At Me를 발표하고 자신의 명성을 쌓아 나가기 시작했다 또한 Gentle On My Mind 란 곡을 뒤이어 발표하고 부터는 컨츄리 스타 대열에 낄 수 있었으며 글렌 캠블은 이 곡으로 그래미상 컨츄리 부문에서 남성 컨츄리 가수상을 수상 하기도 했다 글렌 캠블은 여성 칸츄리 스타로 명성이 높았던 싱어인 바비 젠트리와 듀오로 활동하기도 하였고 앤 머레이(Anne Murrary)와 듀오로 활약하면서 애정의 염문을 뿌리기도 했다 67년 이후 4회에 걸쳐 그래미상을 수상한 바 있는 글렌 캠블은 수많은 레코드와 많은 히트 싱글을 발표한 컨츄리 스타이지만 80년대에 접어 들면서 자신보다 23세의 연하의 여성 싱어 타냐 터커와 함께 Dream Lover와 같은 싱글을 발표하기도 했지만 정신질환으로 요양 생활을 하기도 하였다 국내에서는 Rhinestone Cowboy, Oh, Happy Day, Sunflower, Time 같은 곡으로 대단히 사랑받던 아티스트 이기도 하다. 이 엘피는 내가 무척 아끼는 앨범으로 특히 Friends 는 그중 가장 즐겨 들었던곡인데 MP3음원을 구하지 못해 미국에 사는 아는 지인에게 부탁하여 음원을 구하기도 했던곡이기도 하다.
