CHARLES: So what's your story? You the poor kid that never got to go to Exeter or Andover?
NASH: Despite my privileged upbringing, I am actually quite well-balanced. I have a chip on both shoulders.
CHARLES: Maybe you're just better with the old integers than you are with people.
NASH: My first-grade teacher, she told me that I was born with two helpings of brain, but only half a helping of heart.
CHARLES: (chuckles) Wow! She sounds lovely!

Nash laughs. Takes a long swig.

NASH: The truth is that I... I don't like people much. And they don't much like me.
CHARLES: But why, with all your obvious wit and charm?
내쉬: 사실은 난 사람을 꺼리는 편이야. 남들도 날 좋아하지 않아.
찰스: 하지만 네겐 위트도 있고 매력도 많잖아?
 
Nash smiles and drinks again.
내쉬는 미소지으며 다시 술을 마신다.
 
CHARLES: Seriously, John, mathematics, mathematics is never going to lead you to a higher truth. And you know why? 'Cause it's boring. It's really boring.
찰스: 냉정히 말해서, 존, 수학은 너를 더 높은 진리로 이끌지는 못할 거야. 왜 그런지 알아? 왜냐하면 수학은 따분해. 수학은 정말 따분하지.
 
Nash stares at him a beat. Then he smiles.

말을 할 때 막힘없이 나오려면 단순한 동사를 사용하는 것이 편하다. Be동사를 활용하면 다방면에 사용할 수 있다. '잘 하다/서툴다/못하다'는 be good/clumsy/bad at 등을 사용할 수 있다. 참고로 be 동사는 존재, 공간 등을 나타내고 의복 착용도 나타낼 수 있다. ex) I'm here to meet her.(나는 그녀를 만나기 위해 여기 왔다.) She's in blue jeans.(그녀는 청바지를 입고 있다.)
