60년대 말, 70년대 초, 그러니까 월남전 말기, 당시 기성세대에게는 괴상한 음악인 록, 소울에다 가사도 염세적인 내용이 많았던 음악계가 훨씬 밝은 50년대 풍으로 흐름이 바뀌는 초기에 활동했던 흑인 혼성5인조입니다. 이렇게 바뀐 흐름의 정점에 Carpenters가 있지요.
